- What's the story ?
- Malaysia started it's NS ( National Service ) program this year. Apprehension was abound from everyone right from the opposition leaders to the man on the street.
- Unfortunately, the worst fears of the people was realised as the first reports of racial riots began to hit the headlines everywhere not too long after the Service began.
- Unfazed, our brave leaders denounced the outcry from the worried parents as well as NGOs as baseless and degraded these incidents to "isolated incidents". WE SHALL FORGE ON... SINCE WE ALREADY INVESTED SUCH A BIG SUM IN THE PROGRAM. Who cares if a few sons and daughters gets hurt in racial riots ... these are after all ISOLATED INCIDENTS !
- Things finally hit boiling point when a case of rape was reported from one of the NS camps. Still calls to halt the National service was ignored, while the authorities were giving a "second chance" to those who failed to turn up for the call the first time to attend the service.
- Why is the authorities or those who are involved so lethargic in taking action ?
- Folks, the answer is simple ! The bell hasn't
been rung yet ! It ain't serious enough yet so the ministry involved
still sleeps ! In Malaysia only a death or deaths will rouse a sleeping
ministry to action. This is the ultimate ROUSE-THE-SLEEPING-MINISTRY
theme park game !!
- So what
"action" is taken after the problem gets too big to ignore ?
Investigation Comittees and interviews with psychologists on TV on how
and why the problem occured of course ! Hey what else do you expect ?
This is Malaysia for god sake ! We must be demure and well behaved !
- So go on people ... hit it hard !
